Cisco Recognized as a Visionary in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Endpoint Protection Platforms
Cisco Secure Endpoint Visionary Status
We are pleased to announce that Cisco has been named a Visionary in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms. We’re excited to deliver on our vision of bringing together security tools, whose parts work together to deliver greater value and a comprehensive workspace security solution.
Learn how Cisco Secure Endpoint and Cisco’s Breach Protection Suite are reshaping the security landscape, empowering security teams to simplify operations and accelerate response.
Gartner recognition
Cisco Secure Endpoint has strong momentum, making one of the biggest positive moves on the Magic Quadrant, showcasing significant improvements in both its Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. According to Gartner, “Visionaries deliver leading-edge capabilities that will be significant in the next generation of solutions, giving buyers early access to improved security and management.”
In addition, the acquisition of Splunk has positioned Cisco as one of the world’s largest software companies with a unique opportunity to modernize IT Security teams and their security operations.
The Cisco Security Suites allows organizations to reduce the management overhead of managing numerous contract agreements across vendors and optimize their resources using purchasing programs that allow for enterprise agreements. These factors also lower the average cost of a comparative solution while delivering differentiated security outcomes through tighter native integrations.
Overview of our security vision
The introduction of our Breach Protection Suite, with Cisco Secure Endpoint and Cisco XDR being foundational products to the suite, provides organizations with a security solution designed to protect endpoints, networks, and data from a wide range of threats. The products within the suite work together to provide a layered defense strategy, helping organizations to detect, prevent and respond to security threats effectively.
The Breach Protection Suite offers a multi-faceted approach that includes Cisco XDR to collect, correlate and analyze data that’s been enriched by Talos threat intelligence and provides AI-guided responses and automation. Secure Endpoint, an integral part of Cisco’s comprehensive security suites, provides fast detection and decreased time to remediation. Secure Email Threat Defense harnesses AI powered detection that augments Microsoft 365 to provide comprehensive protection against advanced email threats. And Secure Networks Analytics protects the network by outsmarting emerging threats with industry-leading machine learning and behavioral modeling.
Secure Endpoint: A building block in a larger Cisco Suite strategy
It works seamlessly with other Cisco security solutions to provide a multi-layered defense strategy by providing the following:
Cisco XDR
- Unified Visibility: Secure Endpoint integrates with Cisco XDR to provide a unified view of security across your entire infrastructure.
- Incident Correlation and Reporting: Secure Endpoint integrates with Cisco XDR for correlation of telemetry across multiple Cisco + 3rd-party sources — network, cloud, endpoint, email, identity and applications. This provides incident correlation for cross layer attack chains and leverages GenAI to automate incident summaries and reports.
- Automated Workflows: Cisco XDR enables automated workflows that trigger responses based on Secure Endpoint detections, streamlining incident response and reducing the time to remediate threats.
- Threat Intelligence: Cisco XDR leverages threat intelligence from Cisco Talos, which is also utilized by Secure Endpoint to enhance threat detection and response capabilities.
- Granular response: Secure Endpoint and Orbital response actions are embedded into Cisco XDR, allowing Incident Responders to confidently counteract to attacker’s tactics from the XDR console.
- Network Behavior Analysis: Secure Endpoint provides endpoint activity data to Cisco Secure Network Analytics, enhancing the ability to detect and respond to anomalous network behavior.
- Comprehensive Threat Detection: Combining endpoint and network data allows for more comprehensive threat detection and a better understanding of the threat landscape.
Cisco Secure Firewall
- Network and Endpoint Protection: Secure Endpoint complements Cisco Secure Firewall by providing endpoint-level protection, ensuring that threats are detected and blocked both at the network perimeter and on individual devices.
- Collective Threat Intelligence: Threat intelligence and detection data is automatically shared between Secure Endpoint and Secure Firewall to enhance network security policies and improve threat detection and containment.
Cisco Secure Email Threat Defense
- Email Threat Detection: Secure Endpoint works with Cisco Secure Email to detect and block email-based threats, such as phishing and malware, ensuring that endpoints are protected from threats delivered via email.
- Incident Response: If a threat is detected on an endpoint that originated from an email, Secure Endpoint provides detailed information to help investigate and respond to the incident.
Cisco Secure Access by Duo
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Secure Endpoint works with Duo to ensure that only authenticated and secure devices can access corporate resources.
- Device Health Checks: Duo leverages information from Secure Endpoint to perform device health checks, ensuring that only compliant devices are granted access.
In the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms, Gartner points out an increase in vendor consolidation, citing estimates that, “by 2028, 30% of enterprises will adopt preventative endpoint security, endpoint detection and response, and identity threat detection and response from the same vendor, up from approximately 5% in 2024.”
The Cisco Breach Protection Suite unifies threat detection, investigation, mitigation, and hunting solutions by integrating the entire Cisco security portfolio and select third-party tools across endpoints, email, cloud, network, identity and applications.
